A preview shown recently on the Odyssey Channel has promised the return of Fraggle Rock, along with the Muppet Show, Muppet movies, and many other Henson classics. Odyssey is merging with the Jim Henson Company and Hallmark to create an entirely new channel similar to The Kermit Channel that is already available to viewers overseas.
Even though the Fraggle Rock Campaign (to return the Magic to television) has officially ended, a new struggle begins. One of the campaigns intents was to give Fraggle Rock the full chance that it never got during its original run on HBO. Even though it was an incredible success back then, a limited number of viewers had access to cable and were unable to see Fraggle Rock. From various people across the country I have spoken to, it seems that Odyssey may have even less coverage than HBO did. This is not a good thing. Many of you who have been waiting to see Fraggle Rock come back may not have the network it will come back on, and many more potential viewers will not even know of it.
Part of the problem must be that as of now, Odyssey is a channel that only broadcasts Christian material. This is what it is known for. So when the thought of carrying the channel comes up on your cable provider's list next month, they will not know of the good things coming to that channel in the near future, and will reject it once again. What must be done now is inform your cable providers of what is about to happen, and bug them about it not unlike a spoiled child bugs his/her parents about a toy.
The first step has been taken, now its time to go the rest of the way...
